About Sculptra
Sculptra® is an injectable biostimulator made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that works differently from traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. Rather than primarily adding immediate volume, Sculptra encourages your body's own collagen production to gradually improve facial volume, structure, and overall skin quality.
At MIHSA Aesthetics, Sculptra plans are personalized based on facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, skin quality, and aesthetic goals. Our approach focuses on gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation while supporting the underlying structure of the face.
How it works
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that encourages collagen production after it is placed in targeted areas. The initial fullness seen right after your session is largely related to the water used to prepare the product and gradually subsides.
Over the following weeks and months, new collagen develops in those areas, gradually improving facial volume, support, and skin quality. Because Sculptra relies on your body's collagen-building process, results appear progressively rather than overnight.
Benefits
- Encourages your body's natural collagen production
- Gradually restores age-related facial volume loss
- Improves facial structure and support
- Supports firmer, smoother-looking skin
- Creates subtle, progressive and natural-looking results
- Provides long-lasting rejuvenation without an overfilled appearance
Who it's for
Sculptra may be a good fit for clients experiencing gradual facial volume loss, reduced facial support, skin laxity, or changes in facial contour that come with age. It is also an option for clients who prefer progressive rejuvenation rather than immediate volume.
Because Sculptra works by encouraging collagen, it is typically planned as a series rather than a one-time session. The number of vials and sessions recommended depends on your age, anatomy, degree of volume loss, skin quality, and individual goals.
Areas
Common areas may include:
- Cheeks

- Temples
- Lower face
- Jawline
- Preauricular area
- Hands
- Selected areas of facial volume loss

Sculptra is not suitable for every facial area or concern. A consultation and facial assessment help determine appropriate areas and whether Sculptra, dermal filler, or another option is better suited to your goals.
Frequently asked questions
What is Sculptra and how does it work?
Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that primarily provide immediate volume, Sculptra encourages your body to produce new collagen. As collagen gradually develops, the areas addressed can gain improved structure, support, and volume for a natural-looking rejuvenating effect.
When will I see results?
Sculptra results develop gradually. You may notice temporary fullness right after your session, which is largely related to the fluid used to prepare the product and will decrease. Collagen production occurs progressively over the following weeks and months, with improvement becoming more noticeable as your series progresses.
How long do results last?
Sculptra results can last up to approximately two years for many clients, although longevity varies based on individual collagen response, age, plan, lifestyle, and other factors. Maintenance sessions may be recommended to help preserve results.
How many sessions will I need, and how often?
Sculptra is typically performed as a series. Many clients need approximately 2–3 sessions spaced several weeks apart, but there is no one-size-fits-all plan. The number of sessions and vials depends on your facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, age, collagen needs, and desired outcome.
What is the recovery time or downtime?
Downtime is generally minimal, although temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising, or small areas of firmness may occur around the injection sites. Most clients return to routine activities quickly. Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions, including any recommended massage and activity guidance.
